Unless you've been living under a rock (which would make you the safest person on earth) you've probably been following stay-at-home orders sweeping the world right now due to COVID-19. However, not everyone has this ability! We have a number of folks who are at the front lines of the epidemic at our hospitals, and many who are considered essential to our societal operation.
Many crafters are taking on the challenge of filling the gap in sewing masks for those who need them, including me. I was inspired by the many YouTube videos and other friends I've seen online to make masks for some of my at-risk family and friends to help save the disposable masks for our healthcare workers. When I started posting my process on my Instagram and Facebook I was overwhelmed by the response from folks who wanted me to share my pattern and also to commission me to sew one for them. I'm still working full time (from home), so I haven't been able to expand into making masks for healthcare workers, so I'm hoping my small contribution to my family/friends will help offset the masks they need, and that this blog post may inspire others!

Check out the video and the photos below, of my version of a mask with a removable filter.
For step by step directions, check out the YouTube video that I was inspired by clicking here

Supplies Needed:

100% cotton Fabric - quilting fabric works great!

non-woven interlining - I used fusible, but non-fusible is also fine

Paper clip, for nose bridge

2 pieces of elastic - 7" to 11" depending on comfort preference

<div style="height: 20px;
